A lawsuit has been filed against a Bitcoin mining operation in Nesquehoning. Save Carbon County, represented by Freiwald Law of Philadelphia, filed a civil action in state court against Stronghold Digital Mining, parent company of Panther Creek Power, and the state of Pennsylvania. The goal of the lawsuit is to decrease air and water pollution allegedly caused by Panther Creek Power’s crypto mining operation, according to attorneys with Freiwald Law. Freiwald Law and Save Carbon County allege that Stronghold Digital uses enough electricity for its two mining operations in the state to power about 1.15 million homes per year, wasting coal and tires to produce electricity.
